|
|
I'm open to any suggestions of how to clamp a quarter round window sash - the wood needs to be reglued, and I need to pull the pieces together on one of the sash corners. The corner is straight along one side, but curved on the other. The muntions are too weak to use for clamping. My pony clamps won't hold as they slide along the curavture. Any ideas are most welcome. Thanks. Cindy |

One idea is to tack on some blocks onto the sash with finish nails and use the blocks to put your clamps on. Then fill the holes when removed.
Another idea. Get a piece of plywood bigger than the sash. Set the sash on it and screw blocks along the 90 degree sides. Then put blocks along the curved side a little bit away from it. Then use door shims and tap them in the space between the blocks and your sash until its tight.
Or try a ratchet strap around the entire sash. _________________ 80 windows, 48 done, 32 to go

Matt,
You are brillant. Thank you so much. What terrific ideas. I am sure these will work great.
By the way, I have Fletcher point setter if you would like to see it in action.

Hopefully one of those methods work for you. Ever since I was you I've always had to figure out how to do stuff without having the right tools.
On my windows I can't use the fletcher tool on most of the windows because the pane is too small. I would like to see if I could shoot them at an angle with the back end sitting on the next muntin. _________________ 80 windows, 48 done, 32 to go

This usually ends up cracking some of the glass.
This discussion is about small panes with point drivers:
