If you are in need of some replacement pulleys, I've got a pile of a couple different sizes that I've salvaged, and I thought I'd pass on some pictures and measurements. The larger of the two pulleys is a cast steel brass-plated Coleman for 3/8" cord and measures 1 1/8" wide by 5 1/2" long with a radiused end, and the smaller of the two is a cast steel un-plated Andersen for 1/4" cord which measures 1" wide by 4 5/16" long with a radiused end. I have 33 of the larger sized Coleman pulleys available and 16 of the Andersen pulleys. Pulleys are $10 each plus shipping.

I have a 1920 Bungalow. I will be building new sash for 20 window to replace the vinyl. How would I know what size pulleys I will need?

Determine your sash weight (glazed and painted).

Divide by two to get the number of pounds for each weight.

Select a cord size that can take that weight. (probably #8 if sash is up to 24" wide, #10 if sash is 36", #12 if sash is greater than 48")

Select a pulley that will take that size cord. (The cord should nestle loosely into to "U"-shaped profile of the pulley wheel.)

Here is a table to convert cord #s to inches:

Sash Cord Sizes
#......Diameter Inch
6.......3/16
7.......7/32
8.......1/4
9.......9/32
10.....5/16
12.....3/8
14.....7/16
16.....1/2

Also, give some consideration to the diameter of the pulley wheel and the thickness of the jamb board of the frame.
