We've wanted a small garden and this year I built it but it became a much larger project than I anticipated.
Next door to my rental (old house) the house was damaged by fire and abandoned. The city using federal money has been demolishing houses and that one was on the list. When they demolished the house I left a note on the contractors equipment inquiring about the sandstone. He called me up and said I could have all I wanted and let me go to his dump site and take from his piles, all for free. He usually grinds it for fill.
BTW my arms are tired.
So about 20 trailer 1+ ton loads later here's the results:
2 4x4 vegetable gardens
We have a nice sitting area to watch the river and wildlife. The bare triangle area is seeded with wild flowers. The path goes about half way to the river.
And a view from the neighboring property

Thanks. About 14 years ago I made a bunch of andirondack chairs from plans I bought off the new Yankee workshop show. I made them out of pressure treated 1x and they've held up pretty well over the years. So I modified the design a bit and made a 2 seater for our overlook.
