I'm working on a project where I need to complete window maintenance in two days. Already tried replacing the putty with the window in place, waiting two weeks for Glazol to cure, coming back and repainting. Not having great luck working on the sashes in the frames, and not really happy with the results.

I would rather remove the sashes, re-glaze/re-putty one day, and paint the next. Glazol seems to take too long to cure for this to work. Is there a better putty option that will set enough in a day to paint the next day? Preferably something I can get locally or order in reasonable quantities. Being able to paint with latex and not oil-based primers or paint would be a plus.

Any other comments or advice are also most welcome.

Thanks.

Try Aqua Glaze. It is water-based so it "dries off" at the surface within a few hours and water-borne coatings should be more compatible that oil-based coatings for quick application. It handles differently from oil based putties. I don't use it routinely so you will have to test it out to develop your own application and painting schedule.
