This is my Second Empire style house that is due for re-roofing. We have two topics to submit to the Forum:
1) Sides - The curve of the mansard is an issue. We are considering either copper or a simulated slate. Either must flex enough to conform to the curve.[/color]

2) Top - There are rain and snowmelt problems. The water does not flow out to the scuppers, instead it forms pools in the puckered surface. The top is not flat, rather it is a very low-rise pyramid.

Since this is a "two part" question, feel free to use the blue vs red color code to denote which part you are addressing.

I am interested in any and all thoughts about the above.

If it is not too late to reply to this post, here's a thought. You may have many layers of roofing material. I say that because it looks like you have alot of excess around the chimneys. The older material may have had a sag develop and that sag is now amplified by the weight of all the layers. When you strip the old material off down to the supports and replace it, the problem may go away. At the joists you can better assess the slope before continuing.
