To fasten interior storms or air panels in place:

Custom fabricate two brass pins and install them at the top of the window frame in the dado where the storm will fit, so they point down. Drill two corresponding holes in the top edge of the storm's top rail.

At the bottom of the window in the dado install two similar pins, pointing up, and drill two corresponding holes in the bottom edge of the lower rail.

Size the storm so it can be installed by fitting the top of the storm onto the pins at the top, then lift the storm up so it is all the way against the dado at the top, swing the bottom of the storm into place, aligned with the bottom pins, let the storm slide down onto the bottom pins. The storm and pins are sized so the top pins still remain engaged in their holes when the storm is all the way down.

If you have trouble finding brass rod, go to the welding supply and get brazing rod. 3/16" diameter is usually adequate.

To remove, simply lift the storm and swing out the bottom, then take it down.

This may require handles on each side of the storm, about 1/3 to 1/2 the way up the stiles.

Slick and quick to make, slick and quick to use.
