I have an late 1800's Victorian home with high pitches and "yankee gutters" The roof needs redone and Im going to replace the gutters with new seamless gutters. I was also thinking of doing a steel roof. Is this something that a victorian house would have had? Not for sure what I want yet, just thinking about it.

Thanks - Ron

copper roofing has been used since those days. so yes, there were metal roofs century(s) ago.

the "copper roof palace", 18th century, poland

for aesthetic purposes, i know you can specify color with steel roofing, you might go with a matte green color that would give the appearance of patina'd copper from the street, absent the high price of using solid copper itself.
