Last year I went into my local SW they had wood oil primer in tiny quarts for $$$. But I bought a couple at a time for my old wood windows.

Now my local SW doesn't even sell the quarts!!! and I am hiring out to paint all the exterior trim and need at least 2 gallons ASAP- grrrrrr

I have and want to continue using oil pretreatment of BOL, turp, penetrol (while I still have a little bit left) b/c they are weathered, gray and dry. After all the penetrol is gone it will just be BOL and turp.

I live in Los Angeles and can only find kilz and zinsser oil (INTERIOR) locally. Can I use this for EXTERIOR? Topcoat is latex.

Only primers readily available is water based, even the alkyd is waterbased in darn cali:(

So my options are:
1. drive out of state....and be an outlaw?
2. use (INTERIOR) oil primer for the exterior?
3. use water based alkyd exterior primer?- will it work over the oil pretreatment?
