Hello, I am planning on weatherstripping 25 c. 1900 single-hung windows and adding window hold-ups. I wanted to check with people here who may have more experience to see if these choices seem wise.

WEATHERSTRIPPING:

-Silicone bulb gasket (self-adhesive) [1/4" wide] for bottom of lower sash to compress against sill. Leaving some weep areas (1/4"?)
here's what i found: http://www.amazon.com/Silicone-Gasket-Adhesive-Weatherstripping-Black/dp/B009RWG2M2

- Poly Felt weatherstrip for inside stop and/or outside stop. This felt product claims to be more durable. So would you recommend both interior and exterior stops? And would you recommend nails or staples to attach? I can't imagine the friction working out well.
here's the product: http://www.essentialhardware.com/product_detail.php?pid=224465&gclid=CMbkjLiH_7wCFRAV7Aod_nIA3Q

WINDOW HOLD UPS:

Was wondering if anyone knows of a source that sells these type of window hold ups. Only source i found online was 3.80/each. Would prefer to keep it around $2/each.

here's what they look like: (pictures half way down)

thanks!

Welcome to the Forum!

The Pemco silicon bulb should be OK, but the stick-on adhesive may not last forever. Plan on a 5 to 10 year life of the adhesive. If the adhesive gives out you might be able to restick it with glue or double-sided tape.

I've never used felt strips as weatherstrip on sashes. Consider some of these options for weatherstripping:

I did not see any pictures of "hold ups" at that link.

Best of success with your windows. Stop back anytime.
