There is an easier, more robust, cheaper and correct way to attach the weight to the sash chain in a weight and pulley system.


The weight should be borne by the chain itself, with the chain hook merely acting to connect the bitter end of the chain back onto itself, click here and scroll down to see an example of what I mean:

Once the hook has been installed as in the photo, the two ends of the hook should be crimped shut with a pair of pliers to complete the job.

Doh!

Classic example of over engineering something so plainly simple. Good thing I don't do this for a living Id be out of business. In reality I was going by how many of the weights were originally connected to the chain which was with leftover 12ga copper electrical wire looped through the eyelet and connected to the chain.

Guess I'll leave my tips for waiters and cab drivers.

Anyone need some key rings?
