I've been working on windows and "old" houses for 20 years or so. I do handyman work--except I'm a woman, so I guess handywoman work. I worked 13 years in New Orleans and moved back to my home state of Illinois (near St. Louis, Mo.)
I did a patch of windows last year in St. Louis. This is when I found John's books. One building I did in St. Louis I used alot of epoxy repairs. One window, I rebuilt the sash with epoxy--from a sash that had rotted 25% away to a working sash.
In another building, I made two windows 'two over two' for windows that had been removed in 60's or 70's and replaced with alum sash.
I just checked in to John's site and found out about 'steam paint removal'. I am so excited because I just agreed to strip 4 doors and rebuild 4 windows. I have a steamer on the way to start the stripping with.
