One topic of interest to me is the restoration of exposed rafter tails. We have a lot of bungalows in California with the signature detail of exposed tails. I have seen epoxy used as well as attaching new tails using steal rods. What techniques are recommended in different circumstances?

While we won't have any rafter tails to demonstrate on at our training site, our friend in Salem, New Jersey, Janet Sheridan, has repaired rafter tails and written about it for their Preservation Salem News, newsletter of Preservation Salem, Inc. We'll have copies the article as a handout, and can discuss appropriate methods.
