I have a lovely brick walkway leading from the sidewalk to the back yard, which is quite old. At some point, someone paved over a portion of it with asphalt. I would love to pull up the asphalt, which comes up easily, but I may have a problem. I uncovered three bricks to make sure there were really there. The asphalt left them looking wet and oily, which I assumed would dry out. They have been exposed since october or so, and with all the snow we've had, we put down a lot of salt. The bricks are now crusted white, but it doesn't scrape off. In the morning, the moisture makes them appear fine, but during the day, when it's not raining, they are stark salty white. Is this something that would weather off, or do I need to treat them? I would hate to have a pearly white section of my walkway. I also don't want to remove the bricks if I don't have to, as it forms part of the old walkway for the house. I'll try and post an image later.

Sean - don't know of anything you could use to clean them. What about just flipping them over? Haldis
