I'm trying to put together a rehabilitation plan for an 1880s two story brick commercial building, and need a little help figuring out certain costs. The brick on the entire side needs repointing badly especially in certain spots. The 2010 Construction Estimator puts the cost of doing this at $1.57 a square foot. Does this sound right for a historic building?

Also, any suggestions about what to do about peeling paint on the front of the building? The brick has been painted halfway up and it's peeling badly. I do not plan to remove the paint entirely- the brick is soft, porous red brick and I don't think it would be wise to remove the paint. But the peeling has to be fixed.

It's such a fabulous old place- it just needs a little help!
